Housing is a Right — Not a Privilege

Together, we are building a future where every Namibian can live with dignity, access to land, water, and proper infrastructure.

Who We Are

The Association for Localised Interest (ASOLI) is a people-driven social justice movement dedicated to addressing the deep-rooted inequalities in access to basic services such as land, housing, clean water, electricity, and sanitation in Namibia.

Born from the lived experiences of communities who have been sidelined for too long, ASOLI is a collective voice of ordinary citizens — especially those living in informal settlements, peri-urban areas, and neglected rural communities.

We believe that every Namibian deserves the right to live in dignity — not just in words, but through tangible action, policy reform, and inclusive urban development. Our mission is to ensure that no one is left behind in the development story of this country.

What We Do

  • 📢 Advocate for policy change and practical solutions at municipal, regional, and national levels

  • 🏘️ Mobilize communities to demand better living conditions and participate in local governance

  • 📚 Educate and empower people with the knowledge of their rights to land, housing, and basic services

  • 📈 Engage authorities to address service delivery gaps through organized dialogue, petitions, and peaceful campaigns

  • 🤝 Support grassroots leaders and residents to organize, tell their stories, and influence change

ASOLI is not a traditional political organization. We are a movement. We are community-centered, people-led, and action-oriented.

We are not waiting for change.
We are organizing it.

“If our communities are in darkness, we must become the light. If our children grow up without clean water or toilets, we must raise our voices. ASOLI is the hope that we build together — one voice, one street, one town at a time.”
— Hon. Josef Kauandenge
President: ASOLI
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
— Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

HELENA: 17 YEARS IN HAVANA

“No electricity, no water, no toilets — just survival. I’ve been here for 17 years. ASOLI is the first to really listen to us.”
– Helena, Havana Informal Settlement

Local Struggles

We took our camera into the heart of Havana settlement in Windhoek to show the harsh reality thousands face every day — no running water, poor sanitation, and a system that continues to fail the most vulnerable.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
— Margaret Mead
